The Liminal Lady Performance
‘The Liminal Lady’ is a singer-songwriter performance about how imagination can heal. The title is borrowed from Brian Froud’s book Good Faeries, Bad Faeries, and has come to represent a character that I created daydreaming as a child. She helps you to re-write your story through magic and transformation, which are two themes that have come up a lot during my PhD research on feminist approaches to songwriting.
The performance is made up of nine songs, three of which come from my new EP, ‘The Liminal Lady’, which is available for download and streaming today: https://tr.ee/rA0bZWwyVn
For each individual song, there is a programme note written on this blog, in which you can find a short explanation of what the song is about, along with some further reading and resources if you are interested in finding out more about the research.
We have also been treated to a performance from The Fearless Women's Songwriting Group, who will share some of their songs with you before ‘The Liminal Lady’ begins.
T.W. Domestic abuse is alluded to throughout the songs and mentioned in the programme notes, and music can sometimes cause unexpected emotional responses. Please be reminded that at any point during the performances, you are free to leave or take a break, and will not be judged for doing so. There are further resources below if you’re worried about yourself or someone else.
